Two Weeks Before Halloween

A cool fall breeze blows gently through the window A light scent of wet concrete from rain stirring in the air with cinnamon from our festive fall broom Sounds of leaves rustling along the ground outside Orange pumpkin lights hanging above us and soft sunlight peeking through the clouds into our home Sharing our beige fluffy blanket Keeping warm and cozy Your weight on my lap and in my arms Your little hand gently resting on me You have outgrown the space on just my chest Dusty, tiny toes, from your morning of play Sticking out from the blanket, just the way you like them Shallow soft breaths and little snores as you sleep deeply and nurse Golden blonde curly hair Rosy cheeks and ears Long brown eyelashes My boy, here safe in my arms My greatest blessing This is all I’ve ever wanted
